Introduction
As an Artisan Rigger Ropesman you will be required to maintain equipment according to sound engineering practice and equipment specifications, as well as conducting any rigging task as might be required within any section of the underground mine including surface.
This role has a legal appointment in terms of the MHSA Act of 1996: Maintain, install and commissioning of the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility.
Job description
Your role will include but not limited to:
- Adhere to the Safety, Health and Environmental Policies and Procedures and comply with legal and mine safety standards and ensure that all work is performed in accordance to the Mine Health and Safety Act (Chapter 16).
- Plan activities in accordance with production schedules and allocate resources as required.
- Maintain lifting equipment, winder ropes and attachments.
- Perform rigging and heavy lifting work in surface, underground and vertical shafts.
- Attend to Breakdowns and emergencies as required.
- Inspect, diagnose and perform trade-related maintenance and exercise judgement with regards to replacement of components.
- Work in a sequence that prioritises work requirements and conduct and participate in Risk assessments.
Minimum requirements
Minimum Requirements:
• 3 -5 years’ experience as a Rigger artisan
• Section 13 or 26D red seal Trade Certificate
• N2 Courses with four subjects
• Must have completed a 3-year apprenticeship/ learnership progamme.
• Valid Driver’s License
• A mobile telephone to be contactable when required.
• Own transport
• Ability to work standby.
