Introduction
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Infrastructure Manager to join the DRDGOLD team. The role of an IT Infrastructure Manager typically involves overseeing and managing the technological infrastructure of an organisation. The specific duties can vary depending on the organisation's size, industry, and specific needs.
Job description
Infrastructure Manager will be responsible and required to do the following:
- Infrastructure Planning: Collaborating with key stakeholders to define and develop IT infrastructure strategies, including capacity planning, technology selection, and future expansion plans.
- Budgeting and Resource Management: Managing the budget allocated for IT infrastructure projects and ensuring efficient utilisation of resources. This includes evaluating and procuring hardware, software, and other infrastructure components.
- Network and Systems Administration: Overseeing the setup, configuration, and maintenance of network systems, servers, storage, and related equipment. This involves ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability of infrastructure resources.
- Security and Compliance: Implementing and enforcing security measures to protect the organisation's infrastructure and data. This includes managing firewalls, intrusion detection systems, access controls, and regular security audits. Ensuring compliance with relevant industry regulations and data protection laws is also important.
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans and procedures to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity in the event of infrastructure failures, natural disasters, or cyber-attacks.
- Vendor Management: Collaborating with technology vendors, service providers, and contractors to ensure effective delivery of infrastructure services. This involves contract negotiation, service level agreement (SLA) management, and vendor performance evaluation.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identifying and resolving technical issues related to infrastructure components promptly. This involves conducting root cause analysis, coordinating with relevant teams, and implementing corrective actions.
- Technology Evaluation and Adoption: Keeping up with the latest trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in the IT infrastructure space. Assessing their potential benefits and suitability for the organization and making recommendations for their adoption when appropriate.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures. Generating reports on infrastructure performance, capacity, and utilisation to support decision-making and provide visibility to stakeholders.
Minimum requirements
- 10-15 years experience in a Information & Technology Department
- Own transport
- Degree/ Three year National Diploma (IT/Computer Science/Computer Engineering)
- Experience with Syspro.
Competencies and experience:
- Technical Knowledge : A strong understanding of various aspects of IT infrastructure, including networking, servers, storage, virtualization, cloud computing, security, and telecommunications. They should be familiar with industry-standard technologies, best practices, and emerging trends.
- Project Management: IT Infrastructure Managers often handle multiple projects simultaneously, such as network upgrades, hardware installations, and system migrations. They should possess excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute projects within defined timelines and budgets.
- Team Leadership: As a manager, the IT Infrastructure Manager must have strong leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate their team. This includes delegating tasks, providing guidance, resolving conflicts, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Problem Solving: IT infrastructure can face various technical issues, outages, and security threats. An IT Infrastructure Manager should have a proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
- Vendor Management: IT Infrastructure Managers often collaborate with external vendors and service providers for equipment procurement, maintenance, and support. They should have experience in vendor management, including negotiating contracts, evaluating service level agreements, and managing relationships.
