Introduction
A Junior Protection Monitor's primary role is to focus on protecting individuals, by monitoring the protection context, identifying risks, and providing support and referrals. To collect and analyze data on protection concerns, raise awareness, and link vulnerable communities to relevant services.
Job description
Key responsibilities
• To Perform Radiation clearance on waste items, repairable items, etc.
• Perform routine surveys at classified sites (Plants, reclamation sites & deposition sites)
• Be responsible for issuing and retrieving monitoring devices for the following radiation
exposure pathways:
o Radon gas
o External exposure
o Airbourne pathway
o Ingestion
• Perform radiological assessments at sites destined for land clearance
• Assist the RP Function with any duties/functions required for compliance to
requirements of the NNR.

Minimum requirements
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Radiation Protection Monitors Certificate
• Experience in mining and mineral processing environment or similar (advantageous)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
